SOS Survivors of Separation (www.sos-family.org.au)
Email: fsa@fsa.org.au

SOS Survivors of Separation aims to meet the needs of those suffering from family breakdown, by providing all manner of support from family counselling and personal development to reconciliation. The purpose of this site is to both supply information gathered from real life experiences and to offer avenues for gaining assistance in dealing with the after effect of marital conflict. Notably, it is the children who ultimately suffer the consequences of deconstructive behavior commonly associated with rivaling parents. The advancement of modern parenthood is of a high importance, second only to the well-being and care of our children.

Since the establishment of Australia's Family Court in 1975, family breakdown has increased dramatically, which, in itself has created a flow on effect that results in higher rates of suicide and increased drug abuse, not to mention acts of violence. The cold hard facts indicate that the current process in dealing with family breakdown is severely inadequate and desperately needs an address from the public and political medium. We have seen a rise in concern expressed by several groups within our society. Unfortunately, some have resorted to extreme measures to combat the effects, which only fuel the damaging consequences of family breakdown.

SOS Survivors of Separation Inc., aims to address many issues affecting families today and hopes to gain positive support in order to maintain peaceful and productive change to the way we view family in the 21st century.

The Primary Function of the network is to Resource Parents to navigate existing structures at Personal, Legal and Political levels. The network was established in January 2000 as a volunteer organisation to develop and implement an agenda that is solution focused and practise derived, to expand the knowledge base on parental involvement and families and to contribute to critical discussions in policy.
